Welcome to SOUTHERN LIFE(UK) Now featuring the villages that show the history and life of Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight,  The links page offers useful information on local history and genealogy along with details of Record Offices. As well as showing the history of the villages the website also gives some local colour in the way of famous people and places.

BEN SKEATES Feb 5 1919 - 16 July 2010)  It is with great sadness that we announce, Ben Skeates (late of Mt Isa Australia),  the oldest member of HAMPSHIRE LIFE GROUP at Rootsweb, died peacefully  in his sleep Friday morning, 15 July 2010.  He was a great inspiration to this website and a great personal friend.  Ben loved flowers, but he would have preferred donations to be made to :  The Treasurer  Barrow Submariners' Association  4 Jesmond Avenue  Barrow-in-Furness  LA13 9AW  funeral may be on Thursday 22 July  email : lesley@carr1.orangehome.co.uk To read a bit on Ben visit: http://www.northweststar.com.au/news/local/news/general/a-remarkable-life/1702392.aspx
