Bentworth
Bentworth is a scattered settlement that is part of the Odiham hundred and lies approximately four miles to the northwest of Andover.

The origin of the name is from Bintewrde in 1100 - 1135 and Binteworda in 1130

Coats 1989 refers to the Olde English 'Binta's Curtilage' and no such Old English name is on record but there is a precise continental German Parallel 'Binizo' and the name may recur in 'Benton' {Surrey)

The parish has several hamlets and there are a few buildings of specific interest, including Bentworth Hall and Burkham House.

John Brocket was the minister at Bentworth and in 1672 was Court Baron of the Manor of Bentworth Hall also known as Bentworth Place

The church has a chancel arch and nave arcades which date back to the 12th century. George Wittes the poet and author was baptised in the church and being a firm believer in Cromwell's cause he sold all his land in the parish in order to raise a troop of horse for him.
