| This is a parish with a large village of the same
name 9 miles outside of Dorchester and its church is dedicated to St
Peter and St Paul was built in the 15th century but all that remains
today are the north and south transepts. In 1857 a lot of what remained
was rebuilt at the rectors expense. It has a very large tower built in
1874 which is modelled on the church at Charminster. There was a large clock here that more or less spanned the whole width of the tower but this has been replaced by a much smaller one. Castle Hill are were earthworks are and nobody seems to know just how old they are. Chalmington and Sandhills are two small hamlets in the parish and the school and post office was in Cattistock.
