Knowlton
Knowlton is part of Knowlton rings which consist of four earthworks, North Circle, Church Circle, Southern Circle. and the Old Churchyard, as well as these sites  to the east of Church Circle is the Great Barrow which is the larges round barrow in the county. And three are more barrows and ring ditches within a mile radius.

In the centre of a pagan earth circle is the ruin of a church from the 14th century, and this is what makes the village unique.

Two miles south of Cranborne dn 6 miles north of Wimborne it was once a thriving place and also the captial of a Saxon hundred but today it is scarcely a hamlet lying in the parish of Woodlands.
