Sydling St Nicholas
Sydling St Nicholas  is a parish and a village that lies 8 miles northwest of Dorchester in the Cerne Valley alongside the tiny Sydling Water that has many bridges over it, and old cottages. The church stands where earlier churches once stood and the earliest part of the church here today is the tower built in the 1430s.

The Smith family are mostly remembered here and the clock goes back to 1593 Near to the church is the old Cross made of Ham Stone and also the Manor House that was build in the 15th century and then rebuilt in the 18th. The porch of the church has a fireplace inside and here were once held parish meetings. The font is over 1,000 years old and one of England's oldest clocks still strikes the hours but the face has worn away , it is dated 1593.

The school was converted to a private residence .
