opened on 24 January 1870 by the Bishop of Winchester Revd Dr Samuel Wilberforce who was the son of the slave emancipator. This view is between 1898 and 1905 |

| The Crescent
School was renamed in 1936 because the council had changed the road name to Twyford Road . The school closed after 108 years on 19 January 1978 |

in Shakespeare Road and is still being used as an infants school today, with a new building for Juniors constructed in St Catherine's Road |
