Junction Road shops, there has been a Ladies & Gents hairdressers here for decades, Hamilton Terrace (right) was where the road is on the left of the above photo.   Hamilton Terrace, (Junction Road) the hairdressers shop from the photo left can be seen on the right of this picture.
 
Eling Council Fire Station and crew 1908, the old fire station was in Rumbridge Street   Goddards cycle shop which was later a local motorcycle franchise and is now modernised and still sells motorcycles

Rumbridge Street still has some familiar family businesses such as Goldsmiths Newsagents and Matthews Electrical shops. The Enterprise public house is on the right

This was across from the greengrocery and
bank and closer to Batts corner than to the
old Woolworths (now an antiques shop.) They
were my grandparents and purchased the
store from his sister, Kate Crook. It later
belonged to Forders and then Hopkins.

Station Road, the middle shop was owned by
John Walters and also the
Welwyn Cafe was next door

 
 
Lloyds band with The Swan Inn next door at Batts Corner above the top window is the date A1870D
 
one of the oldest shops in Totton, John Walters, which moved from Station Road to Rumbridge Street, and is now in Junction Road   The High Street, only the newsagents remain of the old shops and the green building was the former Babeys Paints the level crossing is beside it
The Traveller's Rest, Salisbury Road taken in the 1960s,Courtesy of Peter Hollamby, Totton. The building to the left behind the toilets usesd to be the ARP headquarters and a blast wall was put up in front of the door and a steel roof put in place to give protection against bombs. The Tree to the left is where the allotments used to be and this was also the site of an anti-aircraft gun during WWII. The pub has long gone and is replaced by a modern doctors surgery.
