| Goodworth Clatford |
The two Clatfords, Upper and Goodworth are twin villages that sit astride the River Anton and though they share the same name as Clatford means 'ford where the burdock grows', and the same Rector they are totally different in other ways. The parish of Goodworth Clatford is narrow and the is 1½ miles south of Andover and it slopes down the Anton valley an up to Harewood Forest. There are a lot of thatched cottages lining the road that runs through both villages. Goodworth though is the smaller of the two and has been known as Lower and Nether Clatford, and it believed that Goodworth is Saxon for 'Godas enclosure' though there is not much known about Goda. One side of the river has thatched cottages and some later buildings while on the other is the church of St Peter with a strange wooden tower in a field next to the church.
