Netley Marsh
Standing two miles west of Eling is the tithing and ecclesiastical parish of Netley Marsh formed in 1855 from the civil parish of Eling and was the site of the battle in 508 when the Saxons Cerdic and Cyric, having landed at Fawley, met Natanleod, the British King. At nearby Tatchbury there isj an Iron Age hill fort which is near the present psychiatric hospital and the 13th century Manor House still stantds there but has had extensions added to it in the last few years. Tudor style Colbury Manor house is around 300 years old and today the M27 motorway runs through the parish on more or less the route of the old Roman road from Cadnam to Nursling.

St Matthews church

The church of St. Matthew, was built in 1855, and is in the Early English style, and consists of chancel, nave and aisles, with bell turret and 1 bell. The register dates from the year 1855. Today the village has expanded considerably, with a huge West Totton housing estate linking it to the nearby town, and an access road to Fawley and the M27 going through it.  The village hosts the Netley Marsh Steam and Vintage Vehicle show every year, a three day event which attracts people from all over the country, who use the camp site for a weekend break. But sadly 2006 may have been the last of these due to the fall in attendance over the past few years.
