"From a N.Z. Soldier to his daughter Lucy"

The reverse of the card reads:
Dear Lucy,
Just a line to let you know that Daddy is getting on fine again but still in bed so as Jack Frost won`t get at him. This card is one of the views of this place where our hospital is - believe it is very pretty. Of course I haven`t seen it yet. Dear Lucy, hope you are keeping all right and having a good time as I am now. Plenty of warm blankets - five on my bed and get my head under out of the road of Mr. Jack Frost sometimes, and get 6 meals a day so am getting quite fat on it. Well Dear Lucy I hope you got that ????? and Christmas card. So I will wish you all a merry Xmas and a happy new year with plenty of sleep and a good old stocking.
With love and kisses
from your ever-loving Daddy to his dear Lucy
