Up-Nately
Up Nately is a parish on the Basingstoke canal five miles to the east of Basingstoke,

It was split from Mapledurwell in the early part of the 12th century, when it was granted to the Cistercian Abbey of Tiron in France by Adam de Port.

A colony of monks left Tiron to settle into this new estate which was later known as the manor of Andwell.

As a priory that held allegiance to the enemies of Edward III it was sequestered that although it was sold by the abbey of Tiron in 1291 to William of Wykeham who was Bishop of Winchester, who later bestowed it on the newly founded College of Winchester.

The church is dedicated to St Stephan and is a small Gothic structure that consists of a chancel, nave, and a square tower that contains two bells. The chancel and vestry were rebuilt and the interior refitted in 1844 by subscription at a cost of around £2,000.
