Wallington is overlooked by Fort Wallington and sits on the east bank of the river, which flow through the complete length of the vilage, at the northern end the M27 crosses the village.

There is no church but the two public houses The White Horse and the Cob and Pen, alongside the shop, are both an essential part of the village life. Fort Wallington is one of a series of forts that sit on the top of Portsdown Hill as a result of the 1859 Royal Commission.
